TRUTH

Absolute truth exists, but because language cannot describe it, it is technically impossible to determine. Statements, such as 1+1=2, the sun will rise, aging is inevitable, are widely considered to be absolutely true. However, it is possible, though unlikely, that the universe does not exist. Since this is the case, no statement describing the universe can be considered absolutely true. We are left with only the likelihood of existence and absolute truth.

We can make the closest approximation to the truth through the use of probability based on assumptions, i.e., it is most likely true that 1+1=2 if we assume the laws of mathematics to be true. It is also most likely true that the sun will rise, and that we will age, if we assume that the universe exists.

The acceptance of this notion requires one to rely entirely on the use of probability to describe the world in which one lives. So when we ask ourselves, “What’s really going on here?” (referring to all topics, personal and universal) let us start by making the fewest assumptions possible and addressing every question with a strict logical mind frame. A good degree of perspective will be necessary to begin.
